Lord Of Flies Essays (400 words) - English-language Films, Films
Lord Of Flies The theatre version of ?Lord of the Flies' based on the novel by William Golding and adapted by Nigel Williams are now being presented in the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith, London. Tickets cost about ?7.00. This review is comparing the book and how Nigel Williams adapted it. The theatre version of ?Lord of the Flies' is very good. Interesting and always in the climax. The actors are not little kids and there are not lots of them. There are only 8 actors. Some of the actors take 2 or 3 roles. The adult actors acted like a bunch of kids, which was very effective. The way the stage is set out was terrific, the moves around and about on the stage were really planned out well. The stage is a wrecked plane broken in to 2 parts. Actors used up all the stage. See diagram. For example when it is the mountain scene the fire on top of the shelter is lit up and the movable part is facing towards us with the highest point towards the audience. When simon is running down the mountain the movable parts were facing with the lowest point towards us so that it creates a downhill effect. Piggy was a very good actor. The person who took the role of piggy really sounded like piggy.(cockney accent). Some of Piggy's lines were cut out and the way the Piggy died was totally different. Ralph was played by a good actor. The actor was really active, hyper, and was very childlike. He was serious and sometimes fun like in the book. Jack was not what I expected. The entrance of the choir was very good but Jack's voice was just to high pitched and annoying. If Jack were a bit more serious and manly he would have been the perfect actor. Jack sounded too childish. Simon was a very good actor. He was interesting. I taught that the actor had the potential to be like Ralph but because he plays Simon he doesn't talk that much. The way he did was very good and interesting. The others chased him so that he is going up the mountain but then he gets killed. They move the movable parts and the body slides down for jack to take off stage. Overall the play was very good just as the book. Bu if you're lazy and don't like reading this is highly recommended. But still it is recommended to every one ages 13 - as old as the oldest person in the world.

Reflection Paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 4
Reflection Paper - Essay Example This paper, therefore, discusses the learning experiences one receives during a clinical placement on a long-term basis in a health care facility. Long term care facilities have become an essential component in the health care sector since they look after people with chronic illnesses or disabilities, meeting both their health and personal needs. Though mostly associated with the old age, one may need this care at some point in their lives. According to Medicare (2009) ââ¬Ëabout nine million people over the age of 65 needed long term care in 2009, and it estimated that by 2012 twelve million people will need itââ¬â¢. This shows that there will be a rise in demand for nurses and related services in the near future. It is thus crucial for nursing students to receive quality education to be able to cater for such patients. Part of the learning involves a clinical placement which enables the student to practice the theory learnt in class. This is achieved through observation and practice of safe nursing care to people in all phases of human life. This experience offers a valuable opportunity to prevent illnesses, maintain excellent health services as well as nursing of clients with different illnesses while not forgetting providing support in death. The purpose of a clinical placement is to provide an opportunity to a student to acquire expertise in nursing skills, apply already taught theory and facilitate further learning. It presents a chance to a student to practice the theory they learnt in class. Therefore, before one has a clinical placement it is a requirement that they have theoretical knowledge. In addition, it is crucial for one to be vaccinated against various pathogens to protect them from receiving infections from their patients. The clinical placement consists of a program that ensures learning and gaining of skills essential in nursing care practice as will be discussed later in this paper. The program followed during the

MHE510, Occupational Health and Safety, Mod 1 SLP Essay
MHE510, Occupational Health and Safety, Mod 1 SLP - Essay Example and Safety would look for any and all things that might cause an employee to fall causing traumatic injuries, realizing that traumatic injuries often prevent the employee from working (Woods, 2005). The employee that cannot work because of an injury is a liability to himself as well as the organization so this is a needed prevention. There are many things, some of the surprising that might cause an employee to fall in an organization such as this one. Some of those are wet or slippery floors, having things fall against the employee causing a fall, impediments such as cords and/or product in the walkway. Certainly preventing a fall from a slippery floor is not difficult if one knows the floor is slippery, however, this does not always occur. A slippery floor should either be corded off from the employees preventing them from walking on it or auto scrubbers should be used (Anonymous, 1987) Another possibility and one particularly liked by OSHA is the use of non -slip footwear. This kind of footwear is being recommended for use in many kinds of companies where floors may become slippery. Other types of falls that cause injury are usually caused by the employee being hit and knocked down. This can cause crush injuries, traumatic falls, lacerations, bruising, sprains, and fractures. There should be a concerted effort not to stack too high, not to overload trolleys, and not to overload stack racks. Assuring that there are no cords or equipment left in walkways is also important. Violence in the workplace has escalated over the last several years. It has become a major concern for OSHA. There are many types of violence that the employee may have to deal with including those from the outside which would include robbery and those from co-workers. OSHA has recommended that a zero tolerance policy be in place to prevent this from happening. This would need the commitment of upper management, a worksite analysis, safety and health training and record keeping and

Being Christian: Living For God
Being Christian: Living For God Introduction Christianity is the religion that follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, through the Holy Bible. The duration of the last seven weeks have taught me a lot more about Christianity and what it means to be a Christian. I do proclaim to be a Christian, and I was saved in November of 2008. I have always been in church my entire life, and my father and grandfather are both preachers. During this course I have learned a lot, but I would like to highlight three of my favorite topics in writing. The topic I will discuss first is if Jesus claimed to be God. Secondly I will talk about the reasons it does matter how a Christian lives their life. Lastly I will discuss whether or not Jesus needed to be born of a virgin. Section One- Did Jesus claim to be God? Jesus was never actually quoted in the Bible saying the words I am God. But, that does not mean he did not claim to be God. Jesus said in John 10:30. I and the Father are one. Jesus receives worship many times in the scripture. If Jesus were not God he would have told people to not worship him, or stop worshipping him. Also, if Jesus were not God his death would not be abundant enough to pay for the sins of you and me. A human being could not pay the penalty required for sin against a boundless God. Only God could take on the sins of the world, die and be resurrected on the third day, proving His victory over sin and death. Jesus was referred to as many different names throughout the Bible. He was called Master, Savior, Messiah, Alpha, Omega, The Good Shepard, and The Lamb of God just to name a few. I chose to write about this topic simply because, some people do not know or understand that Jesus and God are one in the same. Some people believe that Jesus is the Son of God, but not n ecessarily the same being. This was indeed one of my favorite subjects to learn about during this course because I have never really thought about and researched the many reasons why Jesus is God. Section Two- If a person is a Christian, does it matter how they live their life? Being a Christian means you are living for God. It most definitely matters how a Christian lives his or her life. To be a good Christian there are several things you should practice. The Bible is Gods word inspired through Him. Reading the Bible daily to help better understand the word and may answer many questions you may have as you try to live a life pleasing to God. A Christian should pray daily and praise God for who He is and what He has done in your life. Learn to listen to the Holy Spirit, and let it teach, guide, and strengthen you in times of need. Attend church regularly to worship him and grow as a Christian. When you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you begin a relationship not only with him, but with other Christians as well. All Christians need to learn how to deal with temptation. Temptation is a part of life. The Bible says, Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak (Mathew 26:41). Christians sh ould be prepared for temptation, through prayer and your knowledge of Gods word. All Christians sin, but you must ask for Gods forgiveness for your sins. To me the most important aspect of living a Christian life is to tell others about Jesus. Letting others know about Christ through your words and actions is the only way some people may hear about Christ. The more people we witness to and tell about Jesus, the more souls we will be winning for Christ. I know I am a fairly new Christian and have only been saved for about two and a half years now, but through this course I have now learned more about how to serve God in the best way possible that is most pleasing to him. Section Three- Did Jesus need to be born of a virgin? I do think that yes, it was very imperative that Jesus be born of a virgin. Jesus birth was a miracle. It is not normally possible for a woman to conceive a child being a virgin. Jesus was conceived by the Holt Spirit, not by man. Jesus had to be born of the most humble beings to carry out His great task. He was conceived out of wedlock, born in a stable, and placed in a feeding trough for a bed. The astounding birth is definite proof that Jesus is the Messiah and that He is the Son of God. I think the virgin birth of Jesus is if not the most important, but one of the most important parts of the Bible. If Jesus had not been born of a virgin, He could not have died on the cross to save us from our sins. I think it is absolutely amazing how someone could be born a virgin birth, and that is exactly why this is one of my favorite topics of the course, simply because it is just so miraculous. Conclusion To say this course has taught me a lot about Christianity is an understatement. I have learned so much more than I ever thought I would, and actually enjoyed doing so. It is not often someone says they enjoy the readings and doing the assignments for a course, defiantly not me at least. I would say the one aspect that I enjoyed most about this course was the study guides. I would go through all of the readings every week almost like a scavenger hunt, and get excited every time I reached one of the answers. It was also very beneficial in preparing for the various quizzes and exams. I do not think I have ever said I actually enjoyed a college course, but I truthfully enjoyed this course. Being a Christian I think it is fun to learn more about the history and different stories about Jesus. It makes not seem so much like school work, when you can actually relate to it so much. Organizational Behavior in Garment Industry Essay
In contention with the economic health of a country like Bangladesh, itââ¬â¢s due to the garments sector of the industrial enterprise in Bangladesh thatââ¬â¢s keeping the countryââ¬â¢s economy stabled and in intended direction. The garment industry of Bangladesh has been the key export division and a main source of foreign exchange for the last 25 years. At present, the country generates about $5 billion worth of products each year by exporting garment. The industry provides employment to about 3 million workers of whom 90% are women. Two non-market elements have performed a vital function in confirming the garment industryââ¬â¢s continual success; these elements are (a) quotas under Multi- Fibred Arrangement1 (MFA) in the North American market and (b) special market entry to European markets, Bangladeshââ¬â¢s industrial base, which has remained stagnant over the past two decades, is very narrow, contributing to about 11. 5 percent of the GDP (BBS, 2001). Within this narrow industrial sector, however, the ready-made garments (RMG) industry has flourished as its most dynamic sector. Five basic models have been developed on which ââ¬Å"garments industryâ⬠organizational behavior is based. Autocratic Model: This is the most common model on which most garments factories are based. Here the managers or the leaders are firmly in control, and obedience is considered to be a virtue. All decisions come from the management and the rest just follow the instructions. Custodial Model: Here the management acts as a custodian of the welfare of its employees. They are provided money and security, and the employees in turn follow the diktats of the organization. The orientation is towards providing security, and less towards providing them an opportunity to be independent and leaders Supportive Model: As is evident from the name, here the emphasis is on support being provided by the managers to the employees. Here the employees are encouraged to improve their performance, and they are awarded recognition for their achievements. This results in an overall improvement, since a good result is praised and rewarded. Collegial Model: Here the emphasis is on partnership between all parts of an organization. Self-discipline and responsibility are encouraged and employees are encouraged to achieve the goals that they set for themselves. Teamwork is emphasized. The System Model: Managers and employees donââ¬â¢t see the business only rather they work together for the better product for society, environment, etc. Limitation: Bangladesh garment industry still now is not that much developed. When we prepare the report in Delta Composite they donââ¬â¢t even have their garments profile. We found so many difficulties in searching information. Foreign buyers English is not that much clear. There are many code names in garments industry that is very important for production process, and we have memorized those codes. In garments factory most of the employees doesnââ¬â¢t have any educational background they do their job only with experiences. Scope: During preparing our report we have got chances to visit many buying house, supervise many production process, & completed many sample program. This report gives a narrative overview of the delta composite knitting industries Ltd. and its operation Organizational Behavior Organizational Behavior is the study and application of knowledge about how people as individual or as groups act within organizations. Goals of organizational behavior There are some goals of organizational behavior which are as follows: Describe: The first goal is to describe, systematically how people behave under a variety of conditions. Achieving this goal allows managers to communicate about human behavior at work using a common language. Understand: A second goal is to understand any people behave as they do. The managers would be frustrated if they could talk about behavior of their employees, but not understand the reasons behind those actions. Predict: The managers would have capacity to predict which employees might be dedicated and productive or which ones might have absent, cause problem. And thus the managers could take preventive actions. Control: The final goal of OB is to control and develop some human activity at work. Since managers are held responsible for performance outcome, they are vitally interested in being able to make an impact on employee behavior, skill development, team effort, and productivity. Managers need to be able to improve results through the actions they and their employees take, and organizational behavior can aid them in their pursuit of this goal.
